Kersey: Oh, absolutely. We have, um, in fact, uh wonderful, fantastic news. We just received a very generous donation to our women in need fund.

Donor: Wonderful. I want to specify that abortion to help a minority group - would that be possible?

Kersey: Absolutely.

Donor: Like the black community for example?

Kersey: Certainly.

Donor: OK, so the abortionI can give money specifically for a black baby, that would be the purpose.

Kersey: Absolutely. If you wanted to designate that you wanted your gift to be used to help (an) African-American woman in need, then we would certainly make sure that that gift was earmarked specifically for that purpose.

Donor: Great. Because I really face trouble with affirmative action, and I don't want my kids being disadvantaged, you know, against black kids. I just had a baby; I want to put it in his name, you know.

Kersey: Mmhmm, absolutely.

Donor: So that's definitely possible.

Kersey: Oh, always, always.

Donor: So I just wanna - can I put this in the name of my son?

Donor: Yeah, he's trying to get into colleges, and he's going to be applying, you know, he's justwe're just really bighe's really faced troubles with affirmative action.

Donor: And we don't, you know, we just think, you know, the less black kids out there the better.

Kersey: (Laughs) Understandable, understandable. ... Um David, let me, if I may, just get some sort of specific general information so we can set this up the right way. You said you wanted to put it in your son's name, and you would like this designated specifically to assist (an) African-American woman who's looking to terminate a pregnancy.

Donor: Exactly, and yeah, I wanna protect my son, so he can get into college.

Kersey: All right. Excuse my hesitation, um, um, this is the first time I've had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I'm excited, and I wanna make sure I don't leave anything out.

If global warming gets any worse we'll all freeze to death.

Are the world's ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?

Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly “lost” ice has come back. A NOAA report shows that ice levels which had shrunk from 5 million square miles in January 2007 to just 1.5 million square miles in October, are almost back to their original levels.

Moreover, a Feb. 18 report in the London Daily Express showed that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than usual, challenging the global warming crusaders and buttressing arguments of skeptics who deny that the world is undergoing global warming.

The Daily Express recalls the photograph of polar bears clinging on to a melting iceberg which has been widely hailed as proof of the need to fight climate change and has been used by former Vice President Al Gore during his "Inconvenient Truth" lectures about mankind’s alleged impact on the global climate.

Gore fails to mention that the photograph was taken in the month of August when melting is normal. Or that the polar bear population has soared in recent years.

As winter roars in across the Northern Hemisphere, Mother Nature seems to have joined the ranks of the skeptics. As the Express notes, scientists are saying the northern Hemisphere has endured its coldest winter in decades, adding that snow cover across the area is at its greatest since 1966. The newspaper cites the one exception — Western Europe, which had, until the weekend when temperatures plunged to as low as -10 C in some places, been basking in unseasonably warm weather.

Around the world, vast areas have been buried under some of the heaviest snowfalls in decades. Central and southern China, the United States, and Canada were hit hard by snowstorms. In China, snowfall was so heavy that over 100,000 houses collapsed under the weight of snow.

Jerusalem, Damascus, Amman, and northern Saudi Arabia report the heaviest falls in years and below-zero temperatures. In Afghanistan, snow and freezing weather killed 120 people. Even Baghdad had a snowstorm, the first in the memory of most residents.

AFP news reports icy temperatures have just swept through south China, stranding 180,000 people and leading to widespread power cuts just as the area was recovering from the worst weather in 50 years, the government said Monday. The latest cold snap has taken a severe toll in usually temperate Yunnan province, which has been struck by heavy snowfalls since Thursday, a government official from the provincial disaster relief office told AFP. Twelve people have died there, state Xinhua news agency reported, and four remained missing as of Saturday.

An ongoing record-long spell of cold weather in Vietnam's northern region, which started on Jan. 14, has killed nearly 60,000 cattle, mainly bull and buffalo calves, local press reported Monday. By Feb. 17, the spell had killed a total of 59,962 cattle in the region, including 7,349 in the Ha Giang province, 6,400 in Lao Cai, and 5,571 in Bac Can province, said Hoang Kim Giao, director of the Animal Husbandry Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, according to the Pioneer newspaper.

In Britain the temperatures plunged to -10 C in central England, according to the Express, which reports that experts say that February could end up as one of the coldest in Britain in the past 10 years with the freezing night-time conditions expected to stay around a frigid -8 C until at least the middle of the week. And the BBC reports that a bus company's efforts to cut global warming emissions have led to services being disrupted by cold weather.

Meanwhile Athens News reports that a raging snow storm that blanketed most of Greece over the weekend and continued into the early morning hours on Monday, plunging the country into sub-zero temperatures. The agency reported that public transport buses were at a standstill on Monday in the wider Athens area, while ships remained in ports, public services remained closed, and schools and courthouses in the more severely-stricken prefectures were also closed.

Scores of villages, mainly on the island of Crete, and in the prefectures of Evia, Argolida, Arcadia, Lakonia, Viotia, and the Cyclades islands were snowed in.

More than 100 villages were snowed-in on the island of Crete and temperatures in Athens dropped to -6 C before dawn, while the coldest temperatures were recorded in Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina, where they plunged to -12 C.

We've been playing an endless game of trying to out smart the plumbing demons that keep flooding our basement since before Christmas.
Yes, that was KEEP flooding. As in, we've had water in four times as part of the whole same problem.
Yes, we were in a hotel from Dec. 24th to Jan. 4th because the water drowned our furnace/water heater and it was too freakin' COOOOOOOOLD to stay in the house.
Yes, everything in our basement died a tragic death. :(
HOWEVER... The ONLY other family in our town that has our last name (which isn't the most common in this part of the country) had their house burned down to the ground in a series of two back to back fires.
So, thanks be to God that we're not dealing with THAT level of problems right now!
...but R.I.P Water heater/furnace, anyways.
PS- Who else is enjoying watching the Clinton machine flounder? :)

To everyone's amazement, Gabriel survived for another five weeks--long enough for Rebecca to deliver him. She and her husband now marvel that their babies are both alive and completely healthy. "No one could quite believe it," Rebecca says, seven months later. In fact, the procedure that doctors thought would end Gabriel's life was later credited with saving it. The distribution of nutrients through the separate placentas helped give him the strength he needed to keep fighting.

As moving as this story is, it does underscore just how vital it is for families to have pro-life doctors who share their worldview. Like the Joneses, we're often at the mercy of the medical community's opinion, and surely we all want their advice to be illuminated through a pro-life lens."

After getting my email alert that Mr. Webster had updated his blog (yay, love this feature), I (of course) followed the post on to Illinois Schools Canceling Christmas and Halloween to Avoid Offending Muslims on Free Republic.

First things first:

Still have a sister in elementary school, and trust me, the only offensive thing left in "Christmas" parties in public schools is if you are H2O intolerent crybaby leftist and are thus easily offended by pictures of snowflakes/snowmen/children throwing snowballs, etc. (Or if you are the parent/sibling of a child that comes home hopped up on sugar from said party... But that's an entirely different rant.)

There's no baby Jesus, no arch angels, no star. Pretty much, nothing CHRISTMAS in there "Christmas" parties.

So what is there to be offended by? Happy children? "Allah, no, proctect us from the happy American youngsters! They make my eyes burn and my soul cry out to you!"

I mean, most school districts switched to calling Christmas break "Winter Break" ages ago.

And I'm completely at a loss as to why Muslims hate Halloween- because if it's the All Hallow's Eve semi-Christian roots they're bothered by, they seem to know a heck of a lot more about Halloween then most Americas who are running around in costume.

Grant it, I've seen some pretty trashy get ups in younger and younger grades the past few years. (And this is the UNDER high school crowd.)

Unless high sugar intake levels violates some Islamic law I know nothing of?

Not that anyone even noticed I was gone for three months, but I am (tentatively) back.

Bible study's started back up, so Weds is likely to become my blogging day once again. We just finished Mark (and had some spectacular weather effects for the "forgive them Father, they know not what they do" passage) after start Battlefield of the Mind next week. (Looking forward to that.)

My work schedule became more consistent the last few months, but unfortunately the consistency stole my Laura/Rush/Sean time with it. (How out of date I've become with political things lately is shameful, honestly.)

Also, family drama ensued. Yay.

Things while I was gone...

My mother, sister and I went the the Sean Hannity Freedom Alliance concert in Cincinnati a few months back. Aside from the fact that is was 100 degrees and 100% humidity, the whole day was AWESOME! (With an added bonus on good looking Marines in full dress uniform at the concert... Yum!) Hadn't seen Lee Greenwood in concert in many, many years... An Lord, does God Bless the USA still bring tears to my eyes!

Also, I want Indiana plates. (I don't necessarily want to move to Indiana, but their plates are fabulous. Why are all our plates ugly????)

Anyone offended by the word GOD on it? Because that would MAKE MY DAY! :)

My best friend of forever, Adam, also joined the Army (can't remember if I mentioned this before) and has now graduated both basic training and his next stage of training to become a Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist (makes perfect since for a guy who loved LEGOS, etc when we were pint-sized, yes?). For some reason, even though I can't even describe how proud I am of him, this career path will never make me sleep easier at night.

He goes from Alabama to Florida for more extensive training this week. Hopefully, I can either go down and visit him there in the next few months or maybe crash back in my old stomping ground with him/his family when he gets time off for Christmas. (Assuming he isn't called up any time between now and then...)

I keep telling him he's not allowed to go off and potentially get blown up without me getting to see him again, so we'll see what works out there. ;) ;)

Much as Jon Stewart can annoy me, the Hellary video was too good to pass up. Also, now that I know how to post videos on here, I'll probably be doing that a lot. Love it when tech stuff is made easy for HTML-retarded people such as myself!

Ethan update

So my mom went to help out my aunt and uncle for a week (aka make sure at least one of them got some sleep each night) and she came back. (And two of my three siblings helped my juggle having her that far away... God save me for 17 year old boys... Killing them, anyways...)

Ethan's home from the hospital, and he's much better... But the doctors still have no idea what's wrong with him. His sugar made them think type 1 diabetes at first, but he doesn't fit any of the other symptoms, and regular weight babies developing type 1 at 2 months with no family history, etc, apparently just doesn't happen.

So, my aunt and uncle check his sugar every three hours, call his endochronologist (which looks spelled wrong, but I don't have time to check it now, lol) once a day for a month, and hopefully at some point get some answers.

Home from the hospital pic... Poor honey's all worn out from all those strange people in scrubs poking him with needles all hours of the day!

(I am seriously wishing I had got in the same genetic line as Ethan for eyelashes, though. I mean, that is totally not fair. What BOY needs eyelashes like that?? :sigh:)

Or, at least, his breathing tub and most of the various other tubes, shunts, wires etc that were attachted to him are out now and they moved him from ICU to regular hospital room this afternoon! :happy dance:

Got to hear him fuss (not full blown cry, just 'my throat hurts from having a respirator stuck down to my baby lungs' noises) on the phone today- beautiful noise, after them having to keep him under for the last few days.

We still don't know what's wrong with him, but Ethan is definately on the mend! Thanks for praying! :)

Baby Ethan in need of prayers....

Ok, our whole extended family has been in a serious state of freaking out/shock right now.

My aunt took Ethan to the doctor to his two month appointment Monday to get his first round of shots.

Typically, day after this babies tend to run a light fever and be slightly lethargic. (Little bodies fighting big bad - toned down - virus strains, it makes sense.)

However, Ethan was pretty much lying there not being very responsive or crying or doing much of anything, so my aunt (go mommy instincts!) freaked out and took him back to the doctor's office. The doctor really didn't like Ethan's breathing, etc, so she had my aunt take him right to the hospital and called ahead so they've be expecting him.

As soon as they get to the hospital (at which time my aunt is crying, etc, because nobody knows what's wrong with her baby) a team of doctor/nurses swoop down on Ethan.

(BTW to catch up on rest of Tueday story, my uncle's caught in LA traffic, so he takes him a long time to get to the hospital.

Either him or my aunt called her parents/my grandparents who call my family. We proceed to generally freak out and be sobbing messes because at this point the doctors think Ethan is in a coma- remember, TWO MONTHS OLD.

My mom and I stay up all night- we get the phone call about Ethan being at the hospital between nine and ten our time- finding her a flight across the country, getting her packed, prayed, cried, settle things here so the four of us 'kids' can hold down the fort until my mom can come back, go to the bank, pray and cry some more, decide we don't have time to go to the 24 hour grocery store, and get her out the door by 5:30 am Weds. Needless to say, sleeping definately wasn't on the list of things happening. I got my sibs off to school and then crashed until after noon.)

When they got Ethan to the hospital his blood sugar level was about 850 (should be around 150, poor sweetie), and it's since gone down to about 80 late last night (Weds), so the doctors were going to kill/cut down the amount of insulin he was getting through IV at that point.

Ethan's got eight IV holding posts (what is the name for these?) which lead (according to my mom) about 50 different wires, tubes, etc back to shunts in both his hands and both his feet. (I didn't have time to ask, but we knew going into this that doctors sometimes can put shunts in babies heads' as their skulls still haven't completely hardened yet, so he may have another one there and/or his arms.)

He was on oxygen since Tuesday, but his respitory readings were looking good, so the doctors took him off that around an hour ago. Ethan's been sedated since they got to the hospital, and I don't know yet when they're going to take him off of that. The doctors did let him off of those drugs a little yesterday (not enough for him to completely wake up, though) and he was moving his arms and legs around, which is apparently really, really good.

It's hard to imagine our little guy with so many tubs and things coming off of him, though, esp looking at the pictures. :(

My uncle texted me this morning that Ethan is "in stable but critical condition," which is not good, but still a LOT better then he was Tuesday PM when they took him in.

The doctors can't agree on whether or not Ethan has diabetes at a really young age (which would be weird, as he was only 6.5 lbs when he was born two months ago, generally only 10 lbs. plus at birth babies run the risk of diabetes this early generally) or not, but something's up with his pancreas one way or the other. He also was having trouble digesting proteins properly, so they have him on medication for that. Hopefully we get a diagnosis soon!

However, my uncle all of his vital organs are still in good shape, which is fantastic because babies/people tend to have their organs shut down with their levels get this far out of wack. (= completely non-medically termed explaination)

Having my mom this far away is a little strange- I had 1500 miles when I was at school, but she's never been this far away from my siblings in their lives which is taking some adjusting to. (Everyone has so far :knock on wood: been well behaved, though. Luckily older younger brother that likes to cause trouble and is SO VERY SEVENTEEN RIGHT NOW YOU JUST WANT TO KNOCK HIM OUT WITH A 2 x 4 UNTIL HIS BIRTHDAY is working prom this weekend, so he should stay in line for that.) Mom comes home on Tuesday now, and since Ethan only seems to be getting better, we shouldn't need to change this.

PS: My aunt texted me and Ethan's breathing tube is out and my aunt might get to hold him in an hour!!! :)

Apparently weekly class was called off, but I wasn't able to go one way or the other because I had to go to my sister's music concert. (Naw) Shock and awe that they were able to get away with singing songs involving the word "pray" in it, but the fact that most of the parents dressed their 4th graders as mini-Britney Spears more then makes up for it. :gag:

I'd ask WHERE ARE THE PARENTS??? but since mommy and daddy still buy ALL the clothes are this point, WHAT ARE MOMMY AND DADDY THINKING??? may be a much better question.

I swear, somewhere along the line parental irresponsibility becomes parental abuse in the wardrobe department. (And my mother's soap box on this is actually larger then mine of this, so NEVER get her started unless you would like to see her shoot flames out of her eyes, lol)

Christmas Eve is going to be *FUN*- yay C. E. on a Sunday! I have church in the morning, run into work- luckily we close at 5- and then shower/change for late night church service.

I have a few-thank the Lord- days off after Christmas.

More family drama

So, my grandfather (who lives out west in a more mountain filled area with the rest of my extended family) was out cleaning/messing around with the pond/water feature in the backyard before the first serious winter cold front was due to hit yesterday.

Somehow- we're not sure on the whole non-pain medication induced story yet- he slipped/fell/? and managed to break both the bones in his right leg in a total of four places AND dislocated something that's not supposed to be yanked out of the socket in his ankle in one fell (ooooh, very, very, VERY bad pun) swoop.

Unfortunately, my grandmother is inside in another part of the house, and he can't get a hold of her.

God knows why, but he decides to snap his ankle back IN to posistion since his foot 'was going the wrong way'. :wince: (My grandfather is typically a sane, level-headed intellegent man. Let's assume the pain made him do it.)

Anyways, neighbor comes out to take out the trash (or something- most details in this story are a little vague yet), sees my grandfather sitting on the flagstone in an unnatural position and comes over to see if anything's wrong.

Nice neighbor lady goes in to get my grandmother/ankle boot her now-ex husband used after he had some kind of surgery a few years ago. Somehow, she and my grandmother manage to get this on his foot (hopefully not doing more damage), and using a shovel- that's right a shovel... somethings in this life are too weird to make up- get him up onto one of those desk chairs with wheels and wheel him around the yard to the driveway/into the car.

Side note- obviously, simply calling 911/etc would not have been a reasonable suggestion at this point. Esp since my grandparent's house is on a hill and the driveway is rather steep. Can you imagine if they had lost control of the chair??? :post-situation freaking:

Both ladies take my grandfather to the hospital, where they do Xrays, etc. Unfortunately, my grandfather is allergic to the normal family of pain medications, so he nearly goes into shock from the pain before the nice nurses and doctors shoot morphine into him. :grrrrrrrrr:

Orthopedic surgeon is already slicing/dicing someone else, so he doesn't go into surgery until the wee hours of the morning.

Latest call from my grandmother is that they're sending him HOME late this afternoon.

My mind boggles because, given the amount screws involved in putting his leg back together, this was definately NOT out patient surgery. (But I don't have a PhD, so what do I know?)

So, anyways, prayers for my grandfather/grandmother.

(Funny side story is when he was in recovery and essentially 'high' on pain medication my grandfather apparently told the nurses just about every joke he's ever heard... which is weird, because he's a nice, fairly funny guy, but the meds made him into one of those crazy uncle's who never stops telling corny jokes, lol!)

Post Thanksgiving and other things...

Well, Thanksgiving in and of itself wasn't bad... Usual good food (which lent itself to equally good leftovers), weirdly warm weather, no work, got to sleep in/dress up, etc.

And, because it was Thanksgiving, Maggie came home! :hugs:

However... One stupid part with un-needed soap opera-type drama. (To skip that- and my slightly stupid story- skip down to where my text turns black again.

My teenage brother stole my cell phone when I left it on the counter for about sixty seconds to take the cranberry sauce from the kitchen to the dining room table. Just swooped in and nailed it without anyone seeing him do it.

I don't notice right away (being wrapped up in the food thing and knowing everyone else who needs a cell phone for any reason in my house already OWNS one and does not need to use mine) and when I finally do, I assume I left it somewhere and simply completely forgot moving it.

N0 such luck.

I pin point it down to this brother (after in-depth investigative reporting of the other suspects), and he, of course, totally denies it.

I am brassed off, but as he has finally gotten both taller then me and gained the ability to throw me across the room, obviously physical confrontation is not the best idea.

So, I get my little sister (shameless, much?) to essentially frisk him while in the guise of giving him a hug.

No such luck, cell phone has already been relocated.

It's late, everyone goes to bed, and I figure since there are no hammer's readily available in the house, my cell phone will be fine until morning.

Anyways, Friday early AM my brother has swim practice. (Silly me for forgetting, huh?)

At this point I think- without proof or confession- he sneaks the phone out of the house, because my mom and other siblings help me search his room in an extensively thorough manner that leaves everything back in its proper place.

Again, Baby Sis hugs Brother One when he comes back in house. No phone on him. (Or he's just got deeper pockets then we thought.)

Before Brother One leaves for alumni meet that afternoon, he is dumb enough to leave his cell phone on the kitchen table.

I snag it. (Would you have done anything different?)

Brother One then proceeds to use MY cell phone to call his- but I have silenced his phone, so this doesn't work.

:smacks forehead:

I mean, COME ON. Can we say DUMB move?

He then leaves for swim meet. Brother One's room is re-searched. Nadda.

So, ok. Phone is either in his swim locker or his car.

Hoping cell phone is stashed in his Camero- which has only so may hiding spaces- I patiently wait for him to go to bed/have time to drop off before I take the keys he left hanging on the front railing and sneak out to the car.

Car is searched.

I find a mostly used box of things I'd could have lived quite happily not knowing my brother had purchased/let alone USED (because I KNOW he was raised more responsible then THAT) in the glove compartment, but my phone is definitely NOT in the car.

Curses.

I go up, go to bed (since it's laaaaaaaaaaaaate by then). Crawl under covers, and- thanks be to God- my phone is mysteriously chilling between the sheets with me.

Needless to say, I gave his phone back to my mom- who knew I had it- and life went back to "normal".

So, yeah.

Thanksgiving, good.

Thanksgiving at my house this year... Not so much.

On the otherhand, no psycho relatives I'm not directly blood related to to deal with. :)

...Got enough of THAT at my aunt's Thanksgiving wedding last year, lol. ;) ;)

Adam (best friend since I was like six/seven), Maggie (of course), my aunt/uncle in CA who are two of the coolest people ever to walk the earth...

Of course. I was trained at a very young age not to be one of the lazy people who make everyone else's lives hell. I have even been known to grab carts that weren't mine and put them back.

In many situations, I talk too much. In others, like if I don't know anyone, I'm fairly quiet until the waters have been tested.

People tell me my mom looks like my older sister; none of us (me/sibs) really look anything like my dad/his side of the family at all. Funny thing is I don't look like her pictures taken at my age, just the current age her, which is a tad strange.

Depends on the amount of hot water/how late I'm running.

Only with bananas. (For other people, of course. Love artificial banana flavoring, but real bananas turn my stomache.)

Very much so. And she never understood why I wasn't. Her uniform made a great Halloween costume for me, though, in middle/high school.

Big for our town, yes. Big for an actual, honest to God city, not so much... 800 students at the high school walked out last year and were pepper sprayed by the cops... Mail boxes lit on fire... Property damaged... Things stolen... A man beat/stabbed his wife to death a week two weeks ago... And, oh yeah. Head type guy in local bank embezzeled $29 million.

Depends on my work schedule, but generally two. One if I can make it until 2-4 pm.

Ok, I'm getting over ‘it’.

Originally, there was much aggravation and pacing- and I did need to read my Bible/pray hard for an hour before I was able to fall asleep Tuesday night... Er, Wednesday morning.

There are a LOT of stupid, short sighted people in my state. (I mean, what part of 'raising the minimum wage = less people getting hired/the ones that already have jobs get fired' is HARD to understand??? I had that one down before I was legally old enough to hold a job.)

And just thinking about Brown and future governor :gags: Strickly-sin still makes me sick to my stomach. Thank God that we still have a majority in the state supreme congress, right?

…And, to get back to the moving on…

I went into work Weds. morning not my usually smiley self, and one of my coworkers (known as C. for the rest of this story) asked me what was wrong.

I launched into a short (venom filled) response about idiotic… Words I shouldn’t have used at work… people electing pro baby-killing, pro-homosexual, pro-large government... people… to office.

(One of my other coworkers- who I didn’t think much of to start out with- jutted in that she was one of the idiots… And I decided let that lie and not agree with S. calling herself an idiot. …Aren’t you proud of me, Maggie?)

Anyways, C. spent time talking to me about how this was all part of God’s plan and he allowed this to happen for a reason. (Since he sees things in His time and not ours, etc, that I needed to be reminded of- since I was getting hung up on the whole babies getting forks stuck into their heads and their brains vacuumed out part.)

I had no idea she was religious at all going into this, and (although C. comes from a much different breed of Christian background and goes to an equally different kind church then I do) she was really the first person who made me feel ok about this election.

(Oh no! God and politics in one sentence! Someone freak out!)

It’s just... I was in elementary school the last time Republicans didn’t control congress. It feels weird, you know? I barely remember the before.

(Only before politically I remember was crying when that man was elected. And I was like freakin’ seven, eight years old at that point! …I was right, of course, but still…)

However, there will bigger and better things for Michael Steele, Kenneth Blackwell, and Rick Santorum. (Also, J.C. Watts- I admire the fact that he took time off the attend parent-teacher nights and little league games, but we need him back and swinging!)

Down with the RINO's (esp McCain) and onward from here!

First off, let me join everyone else in the opinion that John Kerry has, once again, made an ass of himself.

And even more so in his "Hey, look at me, I was in Vietnam and I can make a lame attempt at being a man and stand up for my opinion for once... And did I tell you that I was in Vietnam?" follow up.

I was nearly driven to sing that 2004 election song with the "and I got three purple hearts!" song along while I was finishing sewing my sister's Halloween costume yesterday. (Where was that online again? I REALLY want to watch it again for some reason, lol.)

Much enjoyed El Rushbo going all "Mention me! Mention me!" followed by Kerry's "and now Rush Limbaugh will take five minutes off of dissing Michael J. Fox to mock me" line, proving, once again, how predictable liberals are.

Got a call from my best friend (since we were like six), Adam, called me back (FINALLY- the guy is honestly so bad at responding to emails/phone calls) and we caught up on the last six months. Turns out his girlfriend, Christina, is deploying to Iraq in a month.

She's in North Carolina right now- I forget exactly where- doing last minutes pre-deployment things. (Yes, I am uninformed, but I'm working on it!) He's going to visit her in a few weeks before she leaves.

He seems ok (as in, I flat out asked him, and he said he was), but you know men... And I REALLY know this one... :eye roll:

I think I'm going to get him (aka him to give to her) a phone card or something. (What exactly does one get for someone you never met your best guy friend intends to becoming engaged to/marry who's about to leave to serve their country?)

Also, a kind of strange thing that happened Sunday night. We closed at eight (like normal), and I actually got all the "kids" (associates) out the door by nine (not like normal). Bakers' don't show up until 10ish, so I'm alone in the store until then doing paper work and for some reason alarm bells are going off in the back of my head.

Like crazy.

And I'm not a paranoid type person (I live in a safe, smallish, middle America city), pretty much EVER, but I'm going around locking the office door behind me, jumping every time the dishwasher/ice machine/AC makes ANY noise, taking a 10 inch long can-run-siskabob (SP??)-someone knife around with me when I got to the fax machine, etc, for an hour. (Again, NOT normal.)

(I opted not to take the last trash out on the theory that no one would know I was dead until the next morning if I get knifed by the dumpsters.)

Bakers get to work- turns out the front door was unlocked. As in, any random psychopath who wanted to could have strolled in and knifed me unlocked.

I have no idea WHY the door wasn't locked, though. I watched Heather locked it, there were no customers in the store right before we closed, all the associates know to leave through the other door.

Weird, huh?

Ann Coulter Wows Leno Audience

Liberals may hate Ann Coulter, but the folks in the audience of Jay Leno’s "Tonight Show” roared their approval of the controversial author when she was introduced on Wednesday night.

Asked by Leno to explain all the controversy surrounding her No. 1 bestselling book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," Coulter said: "Well, I wrote a book and liberals were hysterical. Every time I write a book liberals are hysterical. It happens all the time.”

Noting that Leno had joked about her the night before, saying that like the Wicked Witch in "The Wizard of Oz” she had a house fall on her as a result of her book, Ann countered: "I just dropped my house on the mainstream media.” The audience cheered....

Godless: The Church of Liberalism

Anyways, new Ann book out on the 6th, and I got it from the library pretty much that day (I put in a request for it the minute I found out she was writing a new book months ago because, as you know, when I grow up, I want to BE Ann Coulter.)

Didn't have time to finish it in one sitting, but it was definately the first 24 hours I had it, easy.

Now, all I need to do is actually buy one, so I can highlight all over it to my heart's content. :)

#1 on Amazon already, etc, etc. Best of her books so far- close call to How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter which is, quite frankly, amazing. I mean, there isn't much better then a book full of Ann columns, right? :)

Going to see Cars either tonight or tomorrow and Maggie is home soon, joy! :)

(Also, apparently, other people are crossing the Atlantic right about now. Safe travels to them, etc.)
