Naw, poor Betsy!

...Who left a message on my cell phone voice mail earlier saying she was "surrounded by things with more then four legs [spiders, daddy long legs, etc] and there is no air conditioning" in the back woods of upper Virginia earlier.

Poor dear.

Hopefully, she brought plenty of bug spray, and no one will accidentally drop her/the token conservative during "trust building exercises" this weekend!

I don't think Shannon intentionally turns everything into lib vs. conservative (although I think everyone knows that she is a very political animal ;) and that's one of my pet peeves, too, where everything (including hurricanes, terrorist attacks, etc) becomes politicized.

However, if you are familiar with Betsy's situation in DC, she is surrounded with some very far-left, aggressive liberals. Not like your elementary school teacher who happens to be a Democrat or your roomie who happens to like John Kerry. These are people who are waaaay out there and waaaay intolerant of folks who don't agree.

So, that's all that Shannon is addressing, at least in this post. Betsy always jokes around about how she's worried someone is going to slip poison into her coffee, or do something else to get rid of the inconvenient token conservative ;)

PS Anon posting is Not Nice! LOL :)

Naw, Mags, you give me too much credit! (And, unfortunately, in our world, I'm fairly tame when it comes to turning things like hurricans into poltical debates...)

And I agree. Posting without sticking a name on something is cowardly. If I didn't want to NOT prevent Greg from posting, etc, I would totally block this option.

And Betsy isn't kidding from hearing some of the stories- apparently one of the girls she lives with thinks "conservative" can work almost like a four letter type word when describing someone.

I mean, dear God, even I wouldn't use "liberal" like that in front of people I have to live with for a year.
